Lindsey and Derek first met in ninth grade AP World History class in 2013, where Lindsey cheated off of bookworm Derek for our weekly reading quizzes. They remained friends at a distance until junior year study hall, where Lindsey developed a major crush on Derek. It took Derek a full year to come to his senses as the two became best friends in Spanish, physics and gym classes, eventually asking Lindsey on their first official date March 31, 2017 at the very swanky hot bar at the Whole Foods in Madison. That was the night of their first kiss and Derek officially asked her to be his girlfriend three weeks later on Lindsey’s 18th birthday.

Derek and Lindsey fell in love that summer before he went down to Duke and she went to Villanova. There was never a doubt that they would make long-distance work, and they spent much of their four college years jet setting between Durham, Villanova and Florham Park.

A year after graduating, Lindsey and Derek moved down to Wayne, PA for Lindsey to go back to Nova for nursing school. Though they had an NJ-sized hole in their hearts for their 15 months on the Main Line, they loved building their first home together.

The summer of 2023, Lindsey and Derek fulfilled a longtime dream and moved to Hoboken. A week after move-in, on August 12, Derek got down on one knee on the Hoboken waterfront and asked Lindsey to be his wife. She said yes, and their love story will continue to be written…
